The super basic UNDERPANTS are, basically, SUPER! These underpants were designed especially with round bums in mind, offering full coverage around the back then curving into a low-rise hipster at the front. The pattern pieces look a little funky, but they piece together to create some truly cozy underpants that stay put.

These underpants are a quick sew, and I've offered instructions for a total of FOUR different finishes (three with elastic, and one with self-fabric). One of my favorite sewing techniques - the burrito method - of course also makes an appearance in this pattern. Please note that the final sewing pattern come up slightly higher than in the photos.

This pattern was drafted for a full hip measurement between 86cm and 170cm (333/4" - 67"). Step-by-step illustrated instructions are for a standard sewing machine or in combination with a serger and provide extensive detail.

A great fit, fab pattern

I have many undie patterns, but wanted to try a new one because the seam placement in the back gave it a point of difference. Hands down the best fit and comparable to my RTW ones.

Well Explained, Quick & Great Fit

I never thought I would bother sewing underwear but I had some knit scraps from making T-shirts so I thought I would just try it. I'm SO glad I bought this pattern to try. The instructions are top! The illustrations are large and clear and correct (one would think all patternmakers checked before offering for sale, but they don't). I appreciated the elastic options (4) because I was using some of one kind and some of another to use what I had on hand. I am so sold on the quality of these patterns, both instructions and the drafting of, that I will be buying the jeans pattern next, and probably others ;-)

Great beginner project & great fit!

I’m new at sewing and have really enjoyed learning how to sew these panties. The instructions are very thorough, which I really appreciate as a beginner. I finished sewing my third pair a couple days ago and could not be happier with how perfectly they fit! Excited to try a few other Halfmoon Atelier patterns I picked up!

Comfiest knickers ever!

I don't have much experience sewing stretch fabrics but these were so easy to make (I used a normal machine). I used the self-fabric as elastic (my fabric had 90% stretch) and it worked brilliantly. I picked the size based on my hip measurements and they fit perfectly. I will definitely be making a lot more of these- comfy, elegant and I don't need to buy special elastic! Win!
