written by Hannah Regina
We're now on Day 3 of the jumpsuit TOFO Sew Along. Today we'll construct the bodice of our jumpsuit and put the bodice and shorts together so that the form of the jumpsuit is created. Let's get started!
STEP 16
Place loops on front bodice. Stitch in place. Sew gathers on top of front bodice.
STEP 17
Stitch loops onto back of bodice.
STEP 18
Attach yoke to front bodice.
STEP 19
Iron seam and topstitch.
STEP 20
Sew sides of bodice together. Finish side seams.
STEP 21
With the right sides together place shorts inside of the bodice. Make sure the bodice lower edge lines up with the shorts upper edge. Pin in place making sure to match side seams and pleats.
STEP 22
Sew waist seam. Side seams should be facing the back. Seam allowance for waist seam is ¾”.
STEP 23
Trim only the shorts portion of the seam allowance.
STEP 24
Iron seam downward and fold ¼” of the bodice part of the seam allowance.
STEP 25
Turn seam downward towards the shorts. Pin in place. Stitch and leave a 2” opening at the centre back. This opening is to insert the ¼” elastic so make sure your casing is wide enough for your elastic.
STEP 26
Stitch belt loops in place.
We're nearly finished now! Join me on Day 4 when we'll finish our jumpsuit TOFO.
