DAY 4 | YOKE, BUTTONS, ELASTIC, HEM
written by Hannah Regina
It's the last day of the jumpsuit TOFO Sew Along. Today we'll do all the finishing touches like add the yoke facing, elastic, buttons and hem the shorts.
Using a safety pin insert ¼” elastic through the back opening. Secure ends with a safety pin and try on jumpsuit to make sure the elastic is comfortable.
Zigzag ends of elastic and close the 2” opening at the back.
Iron fusible interfacing to front and back facings.
Sew sides of facing together.
Sew buttonholes onto facings.
Attach facing to top of bodice.
STEP 33: Back casing
At 2⅛” down from the top edge, start stitching 2” away from side seams and topstitch back only stopping at 2” from the other side seam.
Using a safety pin insert 2” non-roll elastic through the back casing. Secure at both sides of side seams
Starting where you stopped stitching at the back topstitch around the garment sewing in the seam of the front yoke.
Sew buttons at markings.
Attach shoulder straps to bodice.
Congratulations, your jumpsuit TOFO is complete! I hope you enjoyed this step by step sew along.
